The PMR result was out yesterday, 27th Disember 2007. As quoted from koleq94.com,

It's the best ever in terms of the no. of people getting 8As.

98 people got 8As, 12 7As, 6 6As, 3 5As and 1 3As; giving an 82% straight As results (only second time in history if I am not mistaken koleq has surpassed the 80% mark).

All As for BM and Kemahiran Hidup, congratulations to Cikgu Umi aka Ibu Arini (nama manja the debaters called her ha ha). A near miss for English as all save one person obtained A result.

Fiat Sapientia Virtus | Jadilah Kesatria Budiman PDF Print E-mail

The Ode was sung to the tune composed by Anthony Burgess himself. It became the College song for a very short while, as JDR Howell the HM who was vehemently anti-Burgess didnot support its continuation beyond the few instances it was sung under the batonship of teacher Yusuf Tajuddin. Anyway the tune would perhaps not catch-on to Malay ears but the lyrics manifest adequately the objectives and aspirations of the College motto: Fiat Sapientia Virtus (=Let Manliness and Wisdom prevail), just describing an earnest sincere and plain hope and serious endeavour for MCKKians without making any claims to heroism and credit. That should be for others to decide and evaluate.

The Malay version is not a direct translation but an atempt at the translation (i.e. plus interpretation) of the spirit of the Ode to MCKK i.e. Fiat Sapientia Virtus.

Perhaps the Board of Governors, MCOBA, PTA and the College should choose to adopt it as the alternate anthem for MCKK. If it so does, I recommend that the song be sung to the tune of "Hidup Melayu" which was composed and sung when the Pekembar/UMNO flag was first unfurled by the late Sultan Badlishah of Kedah, on 27 07 1946 in front of the Francis Light School just before the Pekembar held its third Supreme Council meeting. That song was the 'new Malay National Anthem' as described by Hashim Sam Latiff that MCKK boys proudly sang when the Pekembar/UMNO flag was raised by the British headmaster on the Malay College main mast on Federation (of Malaya)Day, 01 02 1948, to replace the FMS and the Union Jack/Malayan Union flag.

Ingatkah kamu semua akan Mr. Tan Gim Hoe? The super genius in maths? Our beloved teacher?

He has just retired from working (technically, tho he still give free tuitions to Clifford & Tsung Wahs).

Aku tak pasti berapa ramai di antara kita yang mengikuti perbincangan di MCKK Com net. Tapi berita ini sangat mengejutkan aku.

talking about an ex teacher of MCKK, I bumped into Mr Tan Gim Hoe last Sunday morning jogging in KK and had a chat. He told me that he on the last day he was in MCKK he cried, not because he was sad to leave but because the College gave him a farewell lunch and a certificate as a momento!! Made him sad he said after 34 years of service!!

He is also sad that after leaving he is cut off from the school, although according to him, he haas offered his services to conduct add maths tuition free. He can aslo be made the swimming teacher-in-charge because since his retirement, the swimming pool has been idle.(Quote PKKK during the recent PIBG AGM on why swimming poll is idle " KK sebenarnya Kampung,Kita sekolah diKampung, jadi nak mencari guru yang layak mengajar berenang kena pergi Ipoh!!) Sori ini bukan I cakap,Che Gu yang cakap.MCKK Malay College Kampung Kuala.!!

Science 1

Inikah bagaimana kita mengenang jasa beliau? Wahai brothers in arms ! Mari lah kita ramai-ramai mengucapkan terima kasih kepada mr. tan !

Sila SMS beliau 0165621972

On 23 June, MCKK had the annual Speech Day officiated by SPB YDPA Tuanku Mizan. DYTM Raja Nazrin, Chairman of MCKK Board of Governors, and Minister of Education, Datuk Sri Hishammuddin also attended the function. SPB YDP Agong announced that MCKK has been selected as a cluster school of excellence and will be administered autonomously by the MCKK Board of Governors and the school administration.

In the evening of 23 June, the annual Sports Day was held. Somehow, I felt the fanfare like in yesteryears was missing. Perhaps because the usual authoritative figure on the field, Mr. A. Amirthalingam, was missing! Anyway, Sulaiman House is this year’s champion, Ahmad House the runner-up, Mohd Shah House in third place, and of course, Idris House in its perennial fourth place.

On 24 June, many old boys flocked to the Putrajaya International Convention Centre to witness the SBP Wind Orchestra Finals. Datuk Seri Utama Najib Razak was guest-of-honour, accompanied by Datuk Sri Hishammuddin and their wives. MCKK took third place, after champions SSAS, and runners-up SDAR. That was a feat for MCKK, who are new to the competition and lack musical instruments.

On 28 June, MCKK was selected to hold an exhibition on “internationalization efforts at MCKK” at the Ministry of Education’s “Co-Curriculum Gala” held at Batu Kikir, Kuala Pilah. MCKK showcased its tie-ups with Vajiravudh College, Bangkok; Modern School, New Delhi; Raffles Institution and Hwa Chong Institution, both of Singapore. The booth caught the eyes of DPM Najib Razak and MB Mohamad Hasan, while Hishammuddin proudly described his alma mater’s international connections.

On 30 June, MCKK made it to the finals of SBP Rugby 10s tournament. Unfortunately, the boys tired too soon after playing a hard game in the semi-finals about three hours earlier. They lost to champions SSAS 19-0.

This coming 14 July, MCKK will be hosting Vajiravudh College for the annual match. MCOBA Rugby has made arrangements to send additional coaches to help the boys prepare for the match. The coaches will be stationed at the College to assist teacher/coach Yasmin from July 2 till match day.

Hari Ucapan MCKK
