It’s another fine ending to the 2009 Finale Wind Orchestra Competition that
was held at PICC on Saturday, 20th June 2009.
As stated in the earlier post, this year the competition has been made more
interesting with the inclusion of cluster schools along side SBPs.. so this
year we saw the likes of Penang Free, Ave Maria Convent, Melaka High etc.. Competing
for the first time and showcasing new talents.. We certainly expect a stiffer
competition this year.. we surely did get one..
26 teams competed this year, instead of the usual 20.. including 20 SBPs and
6 cluster schools.. the teams were divided into 2 divisions and thanks to koleq
up and rising performance for the pass 3 years.. we are now considered the
'premier league' teams..the big boys.. hehe.. well.. after the preliminary
rounds.. another surprised was installed whereby instead of the normal 5 teams
finale, this year it would be a battle to the end for 8 teams.. maybe partly
because of the increasing number of gold medalist.. koleq was among the 16
teams awarded gold based on merit of their performances.. so thankfully koleq
managed to be among the top 8 so here we are again.. the third straight year
running.. that's an achievement if u ask me.. i'm surely proud..
so picc again this year.. so here are the list of teams according to their
turn of performance.. 1) SAS 2) Ave Maria 3) STAR 4) MCKK 5) TKC 6) SSP 7) SDAR
8) SMSSAH..
This year.. each team only perform 1 song instead of the normal 2.. thank
god.. and after listening to all the performances.. i should say.. this might
be the closest yet.. they are really good i should say..
They started of announcing the consolation prize.. technically we all
assumed and i don’t think its wrong neither that the names mentioned were
according to classification.. so 8th to champion..
so here goes.. 8th place - Ave Maria, 7th place - STAR, 6th place - SAS (the
crowd went wild!! it seams that the powerhouse of orchestra, runners up last
year is no longer one.. ), 5th place - SSP (wow.. the defending champion is dethrone..
the crowd goes even crazier.. these are really surprising results!!.. we could
not help it to actually imagine koleq getting 3rd or higher.. though we forget
that there is that 4th place coming up..hehe ), 4th place - MCKK.. (oh gosh!!..
it was so so close.. we were so upset.. ), 3rd place - SMSAH (they were not even
in the finals last year.. great improvement), 2nd place- SDAR (another
surprising result.. they too were not in the finals last year..
unbelievable)..and by this time the green convoy was already jumping up and
down.. shouting like crazy.. only one left yet to be announced.. its so obvious by this time who's going to be champ this year.. Champion for the first time.. TKC.. ohh.. the
ladies of OGA were definitely jumping.. so does the wives of our fellow mcobs
seating at the MCOBA section..
cannot help but being slightly jealous of them.. wish it was koleq.. hehe..
well.. to be fair.. TKC deserved the accolade.. they played almost
flawlessly.. they played the disney's medley.. very nice.. Praises to them for
a job well done..
but as a reprieve to us koleq.. this year's team was mostly consisted of
form 3 and 4 so really looking forward to next year finale.. if they build from
here.. i'm pretty confident of putting my money for them getting 3rd or
higher..
summary of the result: TKC, SDAR, SMSAH, MCKK, SSP, SAS, STAR, Ave Maria
thanks to all fellow mcobs for being there for the team.. and for those mc0004
who came.. bean..joebar..mao..matrock..jepp..mizie..sufee..am..and their
couples.. hehe.. great time ekh..
Today marks another remarkable achievement in his carrier as an educator. He became our ayahanda and for those not from the era of mckk 1999 to 2003, ayahanda is the self-title he used during his tenure as The MCKK Principal.. Definitely he was our principal alright.. took over the helm of leadership from 1999 to the year 2003. Well, its safe to say that his tenure as the top person in MCKK was not all that smooth sailing i supposed.. but he had his fair share of greatness and successes. Unfortunately he had to end his carrier as the MCKK Top person in a sour note.. no need mentioning the 2003 incident..
Despite that minor setback.. he rose to a position, most would only dream of.. and to make it within a mere 5 year period was even more amazing.. In 2003.. he was merely a principal with no solution what so ever except for the 'ayahanada'.. within 6 years.. he has rosed through the ranks.. principal.. to education director of Perak and now.. becoming the top person in Malaysian Education.. the Director General of Education of Malaysia..
And today.. he further add to his already amazing achievement whereby he was conffered the Panglima Setia Mahkota Award by The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia which carries the title Tan Sri.. wow.. i never imagine calling him Tan Sri Alimuddin Md Dom.. hehe.. although i still prefer calling hime ayahanda.. hehe..
So.. Hereby, we mckk class of 2004 wishes him congratulation..
KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 — By now it is no surprise that the rich around the world are getting poorer. Malaysia is no exception: Its 40 wealthiest are worth US$36 billion (RM126 billion), down from US$46 billion a year ago. That loss is largely in line with the 21 per cent drop in the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index and not too bad considering the fact that the ringgit has lost 10 per cent against the US dollar, the currency in which net worths are measured.
Malaysia's billionaires continue to dominate. The country's two richest people, Robert Kuok and Ananda Krishnan, both again No. 1 and No. 2, are worth a combined US$16 billion and account for 44 per cent of the top 40's wealth. They are also the two richest people in Southeast Asia. The country's nine billionaires are worth US$30 billion, or 84 per cent of the total, the biggest wealth disparity among any of Forbes Asia's other rich lists. Vincent Tan is the only Malaysian to have dropped out of the billionaire ranks in the past 12 months as share prices in his companies declined.
There are signs of recovery. The nation's stock market index has been climbing in the past two months. Kuok's fortune is up US$2 billion since March, when he appeared on the world's billionaires list. Five other billionaires have posted a combined US$800 million in gains since then. Kua Sian Kooi grabbed the last spot on the list as a result of a big rally in his insurance firm Kurnia Asia's stock, up 50 per cent since the start of April.
