LIM Li Yu, a 16-month-old “blue baby” who underwent a Glenn Shunt operation will undergo a second operation and father Lim Kian Soon is grateful to the Malay College Old Boy's Association (MCOBA) for giving his daughter a ray of hope.
He suffered the first blow when his wife was diagnosed with cancer and the second blow hit him much harder when he was told that his daughter would need RM35,000 for the operation.
“I am grateful to MCOBA. I have spent my entire savings on my wife and second blow was real painful,'' said Lim
His daughter was among four recipients who received a total of RM50,300 from MCOBA to enable them to undergo urgent surgeries at Gleneagles Intan Medical Centre from MCOBA president Datuk Seri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas.

Alhamdulillah kita sedang menjalani ibadah puasa sepanjang Ramadhan ini. Sama-samalah kita mengharapkan mudah-mudahan Allah menerima amalan puasa kita. Di samping itu juga diharapkan agar latihan ibadat yang kita lakukan sepanjang Ramadhan seperti puasa, solat sunat, sedekah, bacaan Quran dapat diteruskan dalam bulan-bulan lain sehinggalah kita bertemu Ramadhan 1428H. akan datang.
Setiap amalan ada kesan dan hasilnya. Ibadat puasa Ramadhan ini mampu menjadikan kita orang yang bertakwa. Inilah intipati dari Ramadhan. Kelazatan puasa memuncak ketika berakhirnya Ramadhan. Kita inginkan keberkahan Ramadhan ini berpanjangan hingga setahun, tapi apakan daya ia datang hanya sebulan saja.
Sungguhpun begitu, kita masih berpeluang meneruskan puasa selepas 1 Syawal. Adalah menjadi amalan sunat mengerjakan puasa 6 hari dalam bulan Syawal. Ia boleh dilakukan mulai 2 Syawal hingga 7 Syawal secara berterusan atau mana-mana 6 hari dalam bulan tersebut. Nabi Muhammad saw. bersabda "Barangsiapa berpuasa Ramadhan kemudian diikuti dengan puasa 6 hari dalam bulan Syawal, maka orang itu seolah-olah berpuasa setahun penuh."
Diriwayatkan oleh Saiyidina Ali (r.a.) daripada Rasulullah S.A.W., sebagai jawapan dari pertanyaan sahabat-sahabat Nabi S.A.W. tentang fadilat (kelebihan) sembahyang sunat terawih pada bulan Ramadan :
Malam 1 - Keluar dosa-dosa orang mukmin pada malam pertama sepertimana ia baru dilahirkan, mendapat keampunan dari Allah. Malam 2 - Diampunkan dosa-dosa orang mukmin yang sembahyang terawih serta kedua ibubapanya (sekiranya mereka orang beriman).
Malam 3 - Berseru Malaikat di bawah ‘Arasy supaya kami meneruskan sembahyang terawih terus menerus semoga Allah mengampunkan dosa engkau.
Malam 4 - Memperolehi pahala ia sebagaimana pahala orang-orang yang membaca kitab-kitab Taurat, Zabur, Injil dan Al-Quran.
Malam 5 - Allah kurniakan baginya pahala seumpama orang sembahyang di Masjidilharam, Masjid Madinah(Masjid Nabawi) dan Masjidil Aqsa.
Malam 6 - Allah kurniakan pahala kepadanya pahala Malaikat-malaikat yang tawaf di Baitul Ma’mur (70 ribu Malaikat sekali tawaf), serta setiap batu-batu dan tanah-tanah mendoakan supaya Allah mengampunkan dosa-dosa orang yang mengerjakan sembahyang terawih poda malam ini.
Malam 7 - Seolah-olah ia dapat bertemu dengan Nabi Musa serta menolong Nabi ‘Alaihissalam nenentang musuh ketatnya Fir’aun dan Hamman.
Malam 8 - Allah mengurniakan pahala orang sembahyang terawih sepertimana yang telah dikurniakan kepada Nabi Allah Ibrahim ‘Alaihissalam.
Malam 9 - Allah kurniakan pahala dan dinaikkan mutu ibadat hambanya seperti Nabi Muhammad S.A.W.
Malam 10 - Allah Subhanahuwata’ala mengurniakan kepadanya kebaikan di dunia dan di akhirat.

Norman Cousins, whose book Anatomy of an Illness tells how watching comedic movies helped him recover from an illness that was predicted to be fatal, is generally credited with starting the scientific study of the effect of humour on physical wellness some 20 years ago.

Science may consider this a new field, but spiritual teachers, some physicians and most comedians have known for centuries that laughing can take some of the power away from a disease.
According to Dr Suresh Govind, a professor at the Faculty of Medicine in Universiti Malaya, it’s healthy for adults to adopt the innocent laughter of babies. For one plain, simple reason - it’s healthy to laugh.
“Babies laugh 300 times a day but as they grow older, their laughter becomes less. When they become adults, their laughter is reduced to only 15 times a day.”
“But I believe that we should learn to laugh more often than that,” he told a forum in Petaling Jaya last week.
